Should i see a shrink for laziness?

I have crippling laziness and a poor work ethic that is hurting me financially. I know I need to be a man and get things done but it’s like something physically prevents me from working harder despite knowing that. Could a shrink help with this kind of thing?

Is It Normal?

  • You're probably seriously depressed. You also need to have your thyroid checked. Low thyroid can cause fatigue among other things.

  • You have to build work ethic slowly nobody can just give it to you.

  • In recent years I’ve found that as a lowly motivated person, routinely listening to motivational self help speakers (namely Les brown) has helped me tremendously with this. Philosophy and attitude pay dividends, you’ve got to get your mind right then the body will follow, purpose energises you

  • Try ADHD meds for a quick fix.

    • Or caffeine. That shit works for me.

That "natural" energy crap doesnt. Fucks up my heart way more than ingesting 200 mg of caffeine for some reason.

    • I would be really careful suggesting things like this as "quick fixes", as from personal experience, they are definitely not the one-size-fits-all cure that they are often made out to be. Psychiatric drugs tend to make some people better and others worse (way worse, even to the point of being suicidal), so it would be best for this person to seek the advice of a qualified professional (hopefully not a quack, as I hate to say it, but there are a LOT in the psychology/psychiatry industry) before making any medication decisions.

      • Those qualified professionals are just glorified drug dealers. They had me on meth pills as a kid because I was hyper in school. I was so twacked id just stare at a wall in silence and the doctor said the meds are working. Then in highschool i complained to doctor im anxious (now I know from being twacked 24 7) so he gives me xanax and got me hooked on that too as a teenager. What those doctors do should be criminal.

        • I've unfortunately had a similar experience, and I agree, it should be criminal. There are some good shrinks out there that don't drug for everything, but also a lot of quacks that seem to be more concerned with what is easiest for them rather than best for the patient. I hope if OP goes the shrink route, they find the former.

  • Doctor first. (S)he can rule out any medical issues that might be making it harder for you to concentrate/making you feel sluggish, and then advise. The solution might well be to look into talk therapies or coaching but it's important to rule out anything that could be resolved with classic medical treatments.
