Working in a restaurant is very much about working as a team. You don't sound willing to give of yourself for the sake of teambuilding. You're perhaps in the wrong job. Or have the wrong attitude.
I feel like you might have misunderstood my post. You are right, team work is needed. However, Im not there to socialize. "Hello, How's was your weekend"...etc, is totally exceptable. Unfortunately , Going beyond casual conversations at work is common. Thats where I draw the line. Teamwork involves work related issues only correct?? I have never had a workers manual that said "indulging in pointless conversation with co workers is a sure fired way to a raise". I have seen that exact behavior get people fired however.
