that sounds suspicious, i say it's always safer to meet a person you've never met in real life in public with at least one friend. i'd suggest a nice coffee shop or even out on a walk around a park/shopping mall. once you feel safe around them and know they aren't some creepy weirdo then you can go for it and watch movies together in each others house.
I don't think a friend is really needed, as long as it's a public place. Going to a person's house if you don't know them just seems stupid, and i thought it was common knowledge.
