I would say... Look at how she behaves first.
Does she get good grades? Does she do her homework and chores without much hassle? Does she behave?
If the answer is "yes" then clearly this obsession isn't so bad. I mean if she's doing everything right (or at least trying to) then it's not going to hurt her to have this.
But if she's flailing and having trouble... then you need to consider removing her distractions until she can focus herself better.
So, don't base it on the "obsession" so much but on how she balances it with the rest of her life perhaps?
