Plus i always thought tounge rings were kinda hot. I'm turning 21 soon and yes I'm a girl so like idk what do you guys think? Bonus points if you comment your experinces!

Have you had other piercings before?

I haven't had my tongue pierced, and have no desire to, but I would think that it would be something you should only get once you've had other piercings and managed them ok.

I got my lobes done/redone in September, and I'm still struggling to help them heal and not get gross. The fact it's taking so long for a relatively easy to clean and protect piercing, makes me think twice about the cartilage piercings I kinda half want. Idk what the healing time or hygiene/cleaning requirements are for tongues, but I'd imagine it's far more difficult than ears.

    • Appearintly tounges heal reallly fast. I'll be getting my ears nips and tummy done for the first time. I'll be getting a tattoo on my ankle as well when I go in. I want a tounge one but I'm hesitant. When you got your ears dine did you get it done by the gun or a needle? If the gun I can understand the difficulty. Those things are cruel

If I were you, I'd start with just the ears and see how that goes.

I got two holes in each year about 8-10years ago with the gun. Got them redone and a third one done all in September with the needle.

It was far, far worse with the gun the first time round.

I don't have any tattoos, but I'm told ankle ones are fucking painful, cos of the bone.

        • Yea I'm ready for the pain, in part I enjoy pain so that will help quite a bit. Na it's a bday gift for me to get what I want done so im getting it done in one fell swoop. They said get anything you want done so why not? Im not doing everything i want cause well i would feel bad. But yea it won't be a fun day.

From my personal experience, getting my tongue pierced was an absolute nightmare...

I couldn't eat or drink at all, it was so swollen that it was hard to talk/swallow, and I was in so much pain that I had to take it out myself. Everyone's bodies react differently, so you may not experience the same things I did. But it is important to be aware of all the downsides and things that can go wrong, from possible infection(s) to a permanent lisp.

It's up to you to use your better judgment to determine whether this piercing is right for you. I wouldn't recommend it, but that's just my opinion. Good luck! :)

Suprisingly it isn't painful I have had a lot of places pierced and truthfully it's not that bad so I'd say go for it.

I voted yes. I got my tongue pierced a couple days ago and I was excited for it, but only do this if you're ready for about a week and a half of eating only mashed potatoes and pudding, and not being able to speak right. Adjusting to a foreign object being in your mouth 24/7 is very difficult. I get so frustrated with it sometimes I want to cry, and I would absolutely kill to be able to eat something I can chew without my tongue throwing the piercing between my teeth as well. It is an awkward and painful process but (I think) if you can make it through that it'll be worth it

This is one of those things that's very much personal preference. I find tongue piercings absolutely disgusting, to the point where I don't even want to look at someone who has one because I might see it when they open their mouth. So many germs and so much spit... Plus the ones my age tend to have bad teeth because they've had it in for so long...Ew... gross

But I have female friends who think they are very sexy so I guess it just depends on the person.

For the record I'm fine with a lot of other piercings. I think they look a bit silly usually but they don't gross me out like tongue or lip. I think it's something to do with them being in the mouth area, and the thought of food and spit being in them.

  • Back when my brother was more of a douche he got his tongue pierced. One thing he said is that you never realize how much you use your tongue while eating until you have something blocking the middle of it. So it’ll obviously like any piercing take some getting used to.

I’d also like my tongue, nips, and upper ear cartilage done but my skins a asshole and doesn’t let things go easy. I’ve had my ear lobes pierced 3 times so far and the last time it got infected 6 weeks in and should of been healed. I take care of my piercings as much as I should but apparently I need that expensive gold shit. So as of rn I only have my nose pierced and that took quite a few infections to master. A whole lot of tea tree oil and salt water later I’ve now had it for 5 years. It did take the normal 6 months to heal it seemed which was a bit of a shocker.

So although with some piercings there’s methods to fight infections it may be more difficult for a tongue so in case you aren’t sure how your body will take it I’d maybe go with something smaller and not so much of a difficult spot to try out. Cause I seriously didn’t expect to go through so much shit to keep one simple piercing. Cause really any infection is dangerous. But besides that if things seem good go for it ik I would.

How long after getting pierced did you start using the tea tree oil? I feel like I need to do something more than just the salt water cos I've got a gross pimply lump just on one hole and they specifically said not to use neosporin...but I'm so tempted :/

Also, have you tried niobium jewellery? It's meant to be good for super sensitive skin...gold can apparently be an irritant :/ I have silver in rn, which can apparently also be an irritant...I just don't like how gold looks.

      • It wasn’t very far in maybe a month or something. Once the first bump started happening so it was pretty far from the time they’re supposed to be fully healed. I haven’t used tea tree oil on my ears before but I’m sure it would of helped my ears just as much. I got told the same thing because it’ll try and heal it rather than just fighting the infection or something like that. So I didn’t even use anything other than what I was given and tea tree oil. I do remember using neosporin on my ears at one point but It may have been a point where I took the earring out and just gave up and starting getting rid of the infection. Cause I’m sure that happen.

I haven’t but for some reason sterling silver makes my ears itch like crazy. They were totally fine after the 6 weeks then got super infected when I put sterling silver in and I gave up. But now it all makes sense because I had gold in the beginning this last time and it was the first time I haven’t had many issues. Because I normally use sterling silver and well I guess I can’t handle that and although I do want my ears pierced idk if I want to mess around with a 4th time. At least I know what my problem is tho. But the weird thing is for my nose I just get normal studs that aren’t anything fancy and have no issues. Obviously at first I did get infected a few times but after it healed I’ve been fine with these unlike my ears. So unless different parts of my body have different mindsets it’s super confusing. If I do ever attempt another piercing somewhere maybe I’ll give niobium a try.

Hmm. I'll try the tea tree. Just like...some oil in witch hazel or something?

Last night, I gave in and put the neosporin on. I'd tried a day of salt soaks and it was worse. Gonna give this a day or two and if it doesn't improve, I'll have to bite the bullet and remove the sleeper:(

That's so weird. I would have thought a nose piercing would be more likely to get infected cos of the postition.

Why are bodies so weird? Haha.

          • I just straight up poured some oil on a q tip and dabbed it on.

I probably should of diluted it but I didn’t really care at the moment. I have heard witch hazel isn’t good because it’s to strong. Maybe mixing coconut oil and tea tree?

Oh wow that’s weird it got worse. I don’t blame you it annoys me so much I give up pretty easily on them. That shit does hurt. I really fought with my nose piercing tho, I really wanted to keep it. Didn’t think I had that much patience in me. Well I hope the oil will help it. Putting that on a few times a day should be good enough.

😂😂 ik it really has a mind of it’s own.

Hah fair enough. I found some 20% tea tree solution and diluted it in witch hazel. Stings like fuck but meh. Lobe doesn't hurt so much, but theres still a lump. Ugh.

              Thanks for the advice:)

I don't know about "tounge" piercings--because "tounges" DON'T EXIST!! It's "TONGUE," not "tounge!" Learn to spell, please! But, if you mean "tongue," then yes, you definitely should get it pierced. Tongue piercings are very cool and also sexy. Your boyfriend will TOTALLY love it for various reasons!
