That makes the situation much better! "Fling" would probably be a better term instead of 'affair'; fling is used more with short relationships, and affair usually brings situations where one person is cheating on the other with a new person to mind. Weird, but English is just a strange language to deal with anyways.
Anyways, yeah, you should definitely save to visit him again sometime. Long distance relationships are hard, but are very worth it if the person is. I actually started out with a long distance relationship and live with my boyfriend now.

oh no, he doesn't have a wife or a girlfriend. I`m not a native speaker and "affair" is the only word that came to my mind :)
