Should I be worried about being part of this Church?

It's a cult, run away, run away very fast. Believe the former members because they'll know what they're talking about.

If you're actually looking for spirituality, you won't find it in any organised religion in my opinion: walk your own path and don't turn your brain off, it's there for a reason whether or not you believe some god created you.
