Should I be mad at this?

  • Oh my gosh. I think I can relate to you. My fiance is a gym buff big time, has always dated supermodel babes, and now somehow wants me of all people. Like you, I am 125ish, not really as curvy though, but we both seem thoughtful an intelligent as unique. I am doing undergraduate research in a biology lab, so me and him are almost total opposites.

He will say things about my body that will totally piss me off. He has called me chubby, said I need to work out, has said "are you going to eat THAT?", blah blah, all in a teasing tone of course but it still hurt my feelings. Once I told him it upset me he stopped--in his mind he is trying to make me a healthier person and is just giving me a hard time. People say stupid things they shouldn't say. It happens.

I don't think our men are awful pieces of shit and I don't think you're stupid for staying with him. If I was you I would address the issue with your boyfriend though so he can have a chance to say sorry instead of you being silently angry about it. There are a lot of muscle head stereotypes so of course most people will see him as some egotistical gym douche, which isn't very fair to him.

Yes, it's normal to be angry, but talk to him about it.
