Well, you could ask her if she'd like advice or say, "I've found that this that and the other worked for me when I was studying in college and yadda yadda yadda". I would suggest that you avoid using the word "should" when talking to her and use "I" statements instead of "you" statements.

so college advice (general stuff) should be avoided if not asked for? (Nothing personal of course, just study tips I've learned etc.)
