Just wondering if America would ever change their voting age requirements?
It seems ridiculous for someone to require parental or guardian permission or signing get an apartment, buy insurance, decide to be treated by a doctor or dentist, open a personal bank account, or basically do most important things involving legal contracts past 18 (high school age).
Many people 18+ are employed and living separately from their guardians. Adulthood being moved to 25 would inhibit people from becoming independent and moving on with their lives, and would be a pointless pain in the ass for both the minors and their guardians.
Do you have any idea how massive an area of people you're typecasting with that statement about Americans being stupid? Maybe get out of your bubble a bit before making snooty comments like you know a whole country probably just from sensationalist media and a few personal encounters.
25 is definitely a good age to vote. At 25, no doubt some got a taste of the working world just enough to know what's bullshit and what needs to change.
When I voted at 18 all I was thinking about was patriotism and how it's my civic duty; I didn't fully understand what each candidate stood for and just agreed with my family's beliefs as they cheered about how proud they were for me to vote for the first time.
Yeah, the law requiring a street address to vote in the state with a lot Native American reservations without street addresses definitely wasn’t targeting the Native Americans. If you don’t understand how republicans use voter ID laws to target groups that vote democrat, you haven’t been paying attention, which means you’re probably also unaware of how they close as many polling stations as they can in democrat heavy locations to make voting as difficult as possible for the ones they can’t stop from registering.
What does the size of the group have to do with anything? They have just as much of a right to vote as anybody else, and it’s enough votes to matter in local and state elections. Plus your claim that it doesn’t matter who the president is, when we’re talking about(among others) the Standing Rock reservation and the atrocities that happened there, is absurd.
I couldn't vote cause there's not enough options to vote on. I say over 21 cause even some 21 year olds are too immature. idiots just like our current president. The dumbas is almost 90 and he acts like a 5yo when he dosen't get his way. I bet his little 13yo son is more mature than he is.
But then again the voters should go through a mental screening and depending on thier results they should be allowed to vote. No metter if they're 12 or 100 if they pass they should be allowed to vote.
Chuy
at first I thought youre full of it.
But considering the entire post.
I pretty much agree.
That said, I know very educated people.
That have become fox news addicts.
I guess my point is.
Folks have become entirely to biased.
They listen to " news "
But what they fail to understand is the difference between news, and paid for broadcast.
If you listen to fox only.
Its pro R.
If you listen to MSN its D only.
You have to dig and have a mind of your own to know who to vote for in your best interest.
So, if you made less then $100,000
Last year.
But support trump.
You are uninformed.
The military has always tried to suck in men in that age range, but not just because they're in their physical prime. At that age, the frontal lobes of their brains haven't finished developing, so they believe they're invincible, they have low empathy, and they're easy to indoctrinate into the military mindset.
(BTW, I speak as a USN vet who signed up when I was 19. For some reason - I guess my genes or my upbringing - I never bought into all the military BS, and I managed to do the minimum necessary to keep my nose clean and get regular promotions for nearly a decade.)
Unpopular opinion apparently, but I believe the voting age should be 16. People don't give enough credit to teenagers from personal experience. A good portion of them are politically educated and their future is based upon who is elected. But then again, 16 year olds can be immature, just like some 25 year olds who vote. Anyone can be immature. Our future depends on kids and 16 is an age where I believe kids start transitioning into adulthood and having their own individual mindset. It's a yes from me.
Being able to vote is the states recognition that the person is an adult and can make all the adult decisions for themselves. If you change the voting age to 16 you are also going to have to question the age of consent and other kinds of privlages. Will 16 suddenly be the new age to become an adult?
18 year olds are still kids but they can mostly own up to their shit. Plus they can serve in the military so thats the primary reason that its 18 and not 21 like it used to be.
Some ages the age of consent is 16 so it's still an odd boundary right now to answer that question. At 16 (in most areas) you're able to get your license and be able to start driving at 15. But voting affects children still in the womb, children, teenagers, adults, elders, literally everyone. I think 16 is the right development age to be able to make those decisions.
Plenty of 18 year olds I know can own up to their shit, and some still can't, same with 16 year olds. Military should not be the primary focus for voting especially since there's so many factors within.
How simple is your POLE!
Do you know your own history?
The boston tea party, etc.
was about one primary objective.
No taxation, without representation.
Thats a polite way of saying.
If I cant have a say in how my tax dollars are spent.
Then you have no right to tax me.
Its MY money, I busted my ass for it.
I therefore DEMAND a voice as to how it is spent.
To answer your query.
If you pay taxes, you DESERVE a vote.
Don't forget the 26th Amendment lowered the voting age to 18 because people were able to be drafted at age 18 but not vote. Increasing the voting age would take that voice away. People between 18 and 25 need to be more involved in politics and do their research before voting.
Whats your problem with
" illegals"
They come here for the same reasons your four fathers did.
The chance to build a better life.
You dis them.
But support the right for bums to vote?
Daily I see american born and raised camping out, polluting and causing problems.
What I dont see.
Immigrants, begging for hand outs.
How do you hate someone who shows up just wanting a chance to work and build a better life?
My only issue is, learn to speak english.
Alright... 110 years ago a group of Finnish farmers decided that America might be better than Finland for long term growth. They spent all of thier money to get the proper paperwork and shipping for themselves to get to a port of entry. As it turns out ww1 America needed more farmers so they got accepted into America. They learned English and stayed relatively poor for the last 80 years until my fathers generation.
What's the difference now???
Well you got people showing up on a whim and expecting to be accepted into America without any paperwork about who they are. All they want to do it be caught by border control so they go to court and THEN RUN THE FUCK AWAY FROM COURT THIS HAPPENS 90% OF THE TIME! My ancestors did it legitimately 100+ years ago during the great fucking war what is thier excuse? Also might add they were Finnish thus they knew only Finnish and a little Russian. Finnish is the hardest European language for English speakers and vice versa my family tried thier very hardest and learned enough English to get by then sent thier kids to public school to pick up English naturally.
No im libertatian, Trump has a more favorable economic plan. That was the primary reason the secondary reason was because of her arogance. Hillary was so sure she was going to win wisconsin she didnt even step foot in the state, trump did so 4 seperate times.
Hillary assumed that her plans wouldnt piss off the rust belt states, it did thus she lost most of us.
Joining the service is a decision that people make for themselves, for better or worse that's their business. It can have adverse effects on the people in someone's personal life depending on their situation, but it's basically only a positive thing as far as the country is concerned.
Whereas, voting is making a decision that theoretically has the potential to cause a wider negative effect, as it's about what's best your country.
