        Well whenever a story with a near murder involved pops up, it is going to be hard to believe.

        This clearly isn't normal. Hitting an innocent girl is unacceptable, but he doesn't deserve to die because of that. I'm more concerned about your Dad, attacking someone with a shovel is pretty hardcore. I think your friend and Dad could both do with seeing a shrink.

          Dad was defending family. She could have been killed and he saved them both. In court his deffense is going to be self deffense not battery. The attacking boy needs therepy or a very sever punishment that will make him regret ever thinking about hitting a women.

            The boy was unarmed, I doubt the girl was in danger of being killed with the OP there to defend her. The Dad could've defended them without resorting to hitting someone much younger than him with a weapon.
