How about an adage from Voltaire: "The best is the enemy of the good."
In other words, perfection is overrated, and never being satisfied with anything less than perfection will completely screw up your life. In fact, if you have the attitude that nothing less than perfection will be good enough, you'll most likely never start any personal project because you know perfection is out of your reach, you'll be crap in the world of work because you never finish a task on time, and you'll never be satisfied with any relationship because you'll always believe that the perfect person for you is still out there somewhere.

Reminds me of Alan Watts spiel on perfection
To be perfect literally means to be complete, to be complete as a human means to be dead, so how could something incomplete be perfect
It's a disease that silently kills, especially people in the creative fields. I'm saying from my own experience.
Also good is the enemy of mediocre, and mediocre is the enemy of bad.

Bad is the enemy of worst. Who goes next?
"the mediocre is the enemy of the bad."
An especially useful adage when applied to naughty sex.
