Sex with a guy in a wheelchair

Why is it so hard to find a woman willing to date a guy in a wheelchair? I'm such a person, I'm successful, educated and not deformed in anyway. I am a impeccable dresser, I drive a nice car. I just can't walk. Sexually speaking im a super freak, I do it all (as long as it doesn't involve another man).

That stinks. I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. I could help you trick out your chair and when we're out and about I would get behind you and run you through improvised obstacle courses. It'd be awesome!

P.S. can I sit on your lap and go boing boing?

Maybe you brag too much, have a shitty personality or you're just an asshole in general? Have you considered it might have nothing to do with the chair? Plenty of guys in chairs have women.

  • I've noticed people can be discriminating with disabilities. I have an invisible disability and it has still effected me quite a bit. I usually like girls with similar problems but I wonder if they are only understanding because they have similar experience. I have also noticed girls with disabilities do not have the same problems disabled men have because more is expected of us, but disabled women have a different problem of being targeted for abuse and people take advantage of them more while we are simply ignored.

My friend dated this semi-blind dude and now they are happily married. I guess there is this thought some people have that such a person cannot work and the woman will have to support both of them.

Does your nice car have one of those little electric lifts that goes *beep beep beep*?

Kidding:) but most people are pretty outwardly shallow, especially in picking partners. That being said, there are of girls who would date a nice, handsome, successful guy in a wheelchair. I just bet it will most likely be someone who gets to know you non-romantically and develops feelings for you. I haven't been very outgoing in pursuing relationships so that's how most of mine have developed. And from my experience, those usually go better in the long run.

People are shallow. Not all of them are but, a lot seem to be. Personally, I would have no issues with dating someone in a wheelchair.

I totally feel your pain my friend. I'm in a wheelchair too since ever. My physical incapacitation is superior to yours as I can't do pretty much anything on my own except for typing on my computer keyboard. Like you I suppose I am a very smart guy since I was lucky to get over the average intelligence, passed high school with top scores and am about to finish my computer engineering degree with top scores too. Unfortunately for you and me this world is too cruel and girls/women are simply not able to see past our disability. It doesn't matter how awesome you are, if it takes effort on their part to be with you and take care of you they simply will stay away from you. Latelly I'm having very complicated issues in my mind because I'm really feeling the need for some sexual pleasure and because I have no girlfriend, woman, or any female friends at all I keep thinking about doing that stuff with women I shouldn't think that way. Like I said, cruel world for us.

I'm conflict. I'd not dump my boyfriend if he lost his legs, but I would not pursue a relationship with someone who was handicapped.
Sorry but there's so many other nice guys that are able to walk ...
This said there is a girl for you, someone who isn't shallow or maybe someone who has a handicap of her own.

Handicapped is not a legitimate term to use about other people: like most people living with disabilities I'll bet he thinks he's "handicapped" by the world around him in general (eg lack of wheelchair access, condescending fuckwits) and (sorry to be repetitive) fuckwits like you.

If you want to educate yourself about disability rights, google Stella Young, fantastic strong advocate who died a few days ago

Oh please, Political correctness irks the shit out of me. He is handicapped and I have a psychiatric disorder (ADHD)
using nicer words about things doesn't make the situation any better.

How did you come to the conclusion that I was a "fuckwit"? Because I answered to OP's question that it wouldn't be a thing for me?

        • Ellenna

I don't give a stuff about what you call political correctness but I do care about respect and the term handicapped is not respectful and I would've thought hadn't been used since the 60's, but maybe that's where you're still living?

And you are a fuckwit because you don't seem to realise that it's not about using "nicer" words: words have meanings and convey attitudes, that's what they're for, and to a person with a disability "handicapped" has quite a different meaning than "person with a disability".

My response had nothing to do with the fact that sex with someone in a wheelchair wouldn't interest you, it was your reasons I was referring to.

Did you bother to check out the reference I gave you about disability advocacy? I'll bet you didn't .... let's talk again when you can discuss that with me.

I'm in Australia and it's 2014. The reference I gave you will take you to pages of tributes to Stella Young who died recently, but even if you just have a look at her Ted Talk I think you'll find it interesting.

Seems to me that if carers use the term "people with disability" that's probably because that's what their clients prefer: the rationale behind putting the word "people" first is so that they are seen as people who happen to have a disability, rather than the disability being to the forefront. Anyway, we all need to remember we're only one car accident/illness/severe assault away from disability

Where are you from? Around here it's perfectly fine to use handicapped, even though people who work with these people use "People with disability" rather than handicapped.

Might be a cultural issue, I'm from Sweden and around here it's frequently used, maybe not as "PC" as the word for disabled.

In my opinion these two words describe the very same thing, just put in nicer words.

And No, It's past midnight and I have a feeling that it will be a long read.
