Sewing question...?

When sewing, do you tie a knot each time the thread joins two pieces of fabric together, or can you finish up by tying knots at the ends of the line sewed?

Just a guy here with no knowledge, and isn't like I can ask my Mom without things getting super weird...

Stitch back and over through the last hole a few times before tying off.. Makes it more reliable... Less stress on the final knot.
Sure there must be some kind of 'sewing for beginners' type of page on t'interweb. Have a search!
