I think its weird to ask for money... I could be curled up in a ditch and I still wouldnt ask you for money.
I would ask family or close friends I live next to... even then I wouldnt directly ask for money just a place to stay :P
I did ask my uncle for enough money to buy a plane ticket once... to go to a family members funeral... but I paid him back a year later.
And I have on rare occasions asked my mom for money... but I always pay her back as well.
