    Me and my close friends have always sorted each other out with money if someone needs it. 20 quid here or there is nothing for a mate.

      That's great...but OP said "practically a stranger," so I think we should give it a no, since they aren't close friends...and it sounds like they don't know one another in real life (since they mentioned catfish)
