self harm is a common outlet for suicidal and depressed people, so yes, in a way, it's normal. however, you should really try to stop normalizing it. it shouldn't become the norm for you. seek some help. i hear going to a therapist is really helpful! reach out to your friends and loved ones, they really do care.
a tip: everytime u want to self harm, try drawing something on that place instead. it's calming. and remember, seek help. you cant do this on your own.
