Saw my friend from school at the pet store

I saw my guy friend from school today at the pet store and tried to initiate a conversation with him, and he didn’t even make eye contact with me.
He looked angry, and kept his head down and said a short answer and before walking away.
It’s been over a year since I was in public school with him, and we were friends in song writing class.
I’m worried I did something wrong.
I’ve been in his neighborhood before I think because I’ve seen him driving his truck. Last time I saw him he looked mad too.
I am a very crazy person and I’ve run through people’s yards before and I carry a knife for self defense. I’m kinda worried he might’ve seen that and it offended him or something.
I’m also worried I might have said something before I left school that could’ve offended him, but if I did I don’t remember.
It really hurts because he was my good friend and I’m also attracted to him.
I want to cry. I don’t know what I did. But as I go back to the pet store to get more stuff for my tank I think I’m going to keep trying to talk to him. Maybe something happened and he’s just depressed. Or if I did do something he’ll tell me and I can apologize.

    Maybe he acts mad to avoid talking to you. Running in to people you used to know isn't pleasant for a lot of people.

      That’s true! I guess I just never thought of that because we were friends. Maybe he just feels awkward.

    He's scared he'll lose you again. He was probably really hurt that you two stopped talking. I don't know why you guys stopped talking but I'm sure he doesn't want to go through the pain of losing you again. I have a hunch he liked you a lot back in school but neither of you made your moves.

      We stopped talking because the semester was over and I got homeschooled.

        Just keep trying like you said. You'll find out eventually if he hates your guts or not. Good luck :)
