Okay, but I'm black and I do not fit any of the stereotypes that they try to fit all African Americans under. There is a difference betweens observing people and seeing the differences in cultures and lifestyles and throwing an entire race into a group because they are a certain color. Racism is not something that makes you observant, it makes you ignorant.
You want to learn more on the different races of people? Study history learn more about a background. Grouping and stereotyping people is just ridiculous!
As humans we group and categorize everything. To include race. It's a natural part of the human existence. If we didn't have that trait, we would not have lived past the stone ago, example:
"Oh look, a lion! I hear that lions eat people, but maybe this individual one doesn't! Lets go pet him!"
I served with black people, lived around than and I can say with life experiences 99% of them are violent scum bags. I don't have the patients or time to interview every black person I see on the street to see if they are a good person or not. I have had experiences with them, I don't like them, and yes that makes me racist. It however does certainly not make me ignorant or stupid. Stupidity would be for me to constantly associate with people I find distressful, wouldn't you say? I am racist, I am however FAR from ignorant.
Does it really make me such a bad person that I prefer the company of my own people, and dislike others?
As I just said to another poster, I think the reason why KeddersPrincess would call you ignorant (and I'd have to agree with her) is because you unfortunately have dealt with the unpleasant black people. You couldn't have met more than a few hundred in your lifetime, if that. There are close to a billion black people. The few hundred nasty ones that you've met are a very very small fraction of the whole race. Not at all close to 99% so how can you say with certainty that 99% are scum bags? You don't know anything about the millions upon millions of other black people and you don't want to, and that is why you would be referred to as ignorant. I doubt me saying this will change your views but I'd like to point out that I am a black women, young (so it's not like I've matured with age or whatever), and never have I burned someone's clothes (I'm still surprised that people actually do that), I'm not violent and I'm not stupid either. I also grew up around a lot of other black people, and I don't act "ghetto". Most black children I knew had a father. I know as many single black mothers as I know single white/asian/mexican etc mothers. In general, all the stereotypes are mostly untrue in the case of the many black people I've come to know. Like I said, I doubt this will change your views but can you at the very least see why stereotypes would be annoying for those of us who aren't like that at all?
Again, more excuses. How does it make me ignorant that I avoid people who have given me a negative experience? Would you go make friends with an entire prison ward full of serial killers? No, you wouldn't. Because you avoid people who you see as bad. Your logic, as well as Kedders, is messed up. You say that because there is a few good blacks, I should just jump in head first and exhaust myself searching for one good one, just because they are black. It's like sticking your hand into a fire a million times because just MAYBE one time it may hurt less.
It's because you're refusing to see the point. It's not just black people who are nasty. All people have a nasty trait. That's just how the human race is. And I'm sorry but that analogy is frankly quite stupid. Comparing black people to serial killers is a little extreme, first of all, but it implies that we ALL have done something to warrant such an analogy. Serial killers have obviously all killed people. They deserve to be feared and seen as bad because they've made their bed. How did I make mine? By being born? As I already said, there are a billion black people out there. You think that because you've met a few bad ones, the majority of the race is bad and a minority is good, when it's the other way round. A small minority burns clothes, commits crimes and are generally not nice people. But there are people like that in every race. I've been screwed over by people of other races before. Did those experiences cause me to become a racist and stop me having white friends? No, because my friends are good people. I know that because I know them. I haven't just made an assumption. I'm not saying that you should "exhaust (yourself) searching for one good one, just because they are black" as you put it. You don't have to actively make friends with a black person just because. I'm just saying that in an ideal world, you would keep an open mind next time you see one. Being a bad person isn't genetic. People are shaped by experiences. You can't compare someone who grew up in the ghetto and got by jumping people to someone who grew up in the suburbs, took ballet classes and went to university. It seems to me like the black people you've found yourself near are the former.
Actually, I never mentioned the race of the the hypothetical serial killers. They could all be Asian, the point was that you don't want to be around people that you dislike. And again, you keep saying the majority of black are good, you know that isn't true. A lot of the the guys I served with lived in Rochester Hills (A rich white town just out side of Detroit) and guess what? They still acted like NIGGERS. They would steal, blame the white soldiers for everything and be disrespectful monkeys. I never once said that their are not scum bag white people, I'm well aware that there are. But every single black I have met is garbage, just nasty ghetto coons with nothing on their minds but weed and, as always, "white women". Everyone keeps talking about this huge magical minority of blacks that are just outstanding people, exactly what rock are they hiding under?
True, you didn't mention the race of the hypothetical serial killers, but it was implied. But nevertheless I'm saying that the proportion of bad blacks is similar to the proportion of bad asians/whites/latinos/etc. My point is that there are bad people. You can categorise them as much as you want but that doesn't mean that one of them is less likely to screw you over. In a dark alleyway, would I feel less apprehensive near a stranger of my own race than a stranger of another? Hell no, because as far as I'm concerned they could both turn around and mug me, forget about race. And it's terrible that those soldiers behaved in such a way. I was under the impression that people come out of the army, having served with all different kinds of people, with a better tolerance for others. Unfortunately those soldiers stopped that happening for you. I can see that this is futile, which is a shame because you're clearly an intelligent person. I just want to stress that being a bad person isn't genetic. Maybe you should try to keep that in mind.
I think you just got the rough end of the stick because your're a douchebag. It happens. Obviously your racism stems from fear rather than observation.
I know a lot of white guys that hate black people for the same reasons as you. You let one or two experiences shape your perception of the world andthat is very narrow-sighted. One day you will forget to avoid a violent group of your white brethren and you will wish you had looked at the world more wholisticly while they are smashing your face in the ground.
One or two? From what do you base that accusation from? I served in the Army with almost an entirely black company and lived in a black town. So you are incorrect. Sorry. I'd love to see you live in Detroit for a while.
And where do you suppose i live? San Francisco? The land of peace love and hybrid cars? I don't know anything about Detroit, but i do know i'm living in one of the top murder cities in the U.S. Maybe Detroit is worse, but it's not according to statistics. I imagine Detroit has more gangs and organized crime, but hell i don't know. It seems that no where is safe anymore. I've hung around in the hood and I've lived in the country and i know these issues will continue to grow until everyone realizes that it's not race that makes us so different from one another.
I've never heard of a "black" town or a "white" town. I've heard neighborhoods be referred to as "black" neighborhoods, but that doesn't even make much sense to me... usually the houses are purple, green and yellow.
But seriously, I'm more afraid to live around a bunch of rednecks.I lived in a neighborhood that composed mostly of black people and mexicans, not quite the ghetto but maybe to some, for 4 years with little confrontation. However, I lived 2 years in a redneck area and experienced people starting shit at stores, people shooting my cats, a car chase and just general discomfort. I like where I am now - away from everyone.
Oh, and it has nothing to do with "fear". If it had to do with fear I wouldn't have had a white pride march in a black neighborhood, just to piss of the scum and show them that they are all talk.
Again with this shit. EXPLAIN how I'm ignorant. Trowing dumb ass insults to people with no backing or opposing argument does not prove the other person is wrong.
you cannot negate the REASON y these stereotypes exizt. Believe me i grew up around black ppl in the ghetto and let me tell u....u cant tell me that ppl didnt act like this to stereotype it..
its just how it is in the streets im away from all that now...
chris rock said it best u kno him..."i like black ppl, but i hate n!ggas" the ghetto vicious ones...u cant say u dont kno...cuz thats really naive to say u dont kno..
The "ghetto", vicious ones are a tiny portion of all black people. It's just unfortunate for the rest of the race that they are the loudest and are considered the most entertaining, so they are shown more in the media. Where I live (London, England) I have never heard of anyone doing anything like that. And contrary to popular belief there are LOADS of black people in England and there are ghettos in London. So you grew up in a ghetto. You were exposed to, let's say, 100 black people? Give or take. Those 100 or so black people acted a certain way that has shaped your views. Okay. Now think about the world. There are probably close to a billion black people. And because of those 100, you think you know and understand a billion different people who've grown up in different circumstances? Can you see why we educated black people would find that irritating? We're being lumped with this stereotype, because a small portion have chosen to act a certain way. It's not right.
Ruining Clothes...silly black people!!!
