    that teacher lied to you, gum can lump together in your stomach and clog things up.

      Only if you eat a whole glob of it.. IT's made of biodegradable materials that can be broken down by stomach acid. Someone didn't study Science in high school.

        then how come the teacher tells you to spit it out instead of swallowing it-?

        -And if you swallow enough of it, it DOES turn into a glob.
