Roommate randomly states "love" while we are alone in our dorm

It just seems a bit weird because he repeats it at random times. He also mutters constantly to himself, but I think that's a bit more common. I asked him to explain and he states it make himself feel better.

Sleep on your stomach for a few nights and see if he tries to stick it in.

He could just be talking to himself, and, the making himself feel better is repeating the same word. It's a nervous condition. Former coworker of mine would often say, to herself, "hairspray", or sometimes "puppies", like a keyword to maybe distract her mind. Would walk past her office, and see her working, then hear one of those words out of the blue. She wouldn't do it with people in the room, but by herself, yes.
