Rocking in your sleep or before you go to sleep

I am 60 years old and I've been rocking since I was a little boy and I still do it to go to sleep and even in my sleep I know I will probably rock the rest of my life I have a brother that did it too but he stopped doing that so it Just depends on the person it's normal

I use to suck my thumb, rock and hum when I was little. I am 54 and still rock myself to sleep. I am so glad I am not the only one or crazy. It's a habit and I enjoy rocking myself. When I stop rocking I have to move my legs. I sneak rocks to. When my grand daughter stays with me, she sleeps in my bed and when she falls asleep I rock. I also have insomnia and constantly rock.

it is a copying skill, it doesn't mean anything. It is like rocking in a chair. So do not worry about it, if it makes you feel good do it. my daughter has done it all her life and is still doing it but it never buggs anyone

If it helps, I guess..My ex-wife used to do it, and drove me crazy if I was going to bed the same time as she was. Then again, some people need to be still and motionless in order to sleep. My older sister usually won't move a muscle. We shared a hotel bed (a few times, actually) in the city during a family event, and I was surprised at how still she was (and very close to me..her long-nailed fingers were flat, splayed out, and touching mine). And she fell right to sleep.

    Each to their own...
I don't mean it in a "I'm creeped out" way, but I guess it's just something you do. We all have quirks.
