Rich people problems

Money can make people happy, it can't buy everything of course. When you see a video of someone winning 1 million dollars they're ecstatic and you would be too. No ones going to be all "A million? How pleasant"

Today I saw a funny little comic that pretty much summed up my opinion on rich people problems.

My thought is no matter what your problem is you're still rich.

Go through a traumatic event? At least you can afford a good therapist. Went through a divorce? At least you can afford a trophy wife. House burned down? At least you can afford 3 more. Health problems? At least you can afford the best insurance.

So what do you think about rich people problems?

Rich people don't have problems 16
I'm with you in the end they're still rich 24
Rich people have problems just like everybody 52
Rich people have problems but not like everybody 60

  • Everyone has problems, rich people just have a bigger safety net (money).

I'd rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable; that's for sure. At least then I could go on a nice luxury holiday, whenever I felt like it, find the best therapist for my needs, get myself pampered in a nice spa. It wouldn't be the same at all.

Rich people have a problem bigger than that of a poor person: self delusion. Rich people tend to forget much more quickly that they are a mortal, bipedal mammal that will be eaten by worms and bacteria when they expire.
They attempt, through the art of their mind and the power of their dollar to leave an immortal legacy of themselves and forget to discover their personal purpose for existence. In the course of a rich person's life they forget their current lives in favor of a future existence, they forget their liberty of thought in favor of social and fiscal security, and they forget to pursue a personal happiness.
Among wage slaves, the rich man is the modern equivalent of the house slave, afforded unprecedented luxury in exchange for an internalization of the whip.

Rich people have more problems than you think. Sure, they've got anything they want material-wise. But, it doesn't buy respect or love. Having money doesn't nessicarily make you happy. In fact, it can actually cause problems.

    • But not being rich doesn't guarantee you respect or love either.

That is the difference between giving a man a fish and teaching him to fish. Someone winning a lottery only gets that money once and has to make the best of it. Real rich people have constant money coming in every day. So they can waste a couple million and still be rich as hell. That is not rich you were just given a million dollars. If you stay rich is up to you. That money wont last.

I used to work for very rich lawyers who had HUGE problems: for example, will the family spend their holidays on the French Riviera or the Swiss Alps; should they increase the allowance to the daughter who's off to finishing school (her allowance was more than the amount the government had been paying me to support myself and my daughter before I found a job) and I could go on, but just remembering their elitist selfishness makes me feel quite ill even now, years later.

I'm poor financially and so are the vast majority of my friends, but we know how to enjoy life, which in my experience a lot of wealthy people don't, except to spend more and more money on things they don't need.

How did most of them get so rich anyway? At other peoples' expense in the vast majority of cases or by inheritance, not by hard work.

But they won't be financial problems, will they?

      Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Statistically, people who win big in lotteries end up worse off after because they don't know how to manage finances. It is sad but true

I think money isn't one problem but MANY problems. Imagine yourself with a job, a car, a home, maybe even a cable package. What if you got in a car wreck? Your car insurance will cover it but they won't get you a rental. Now you can't get to work which generates more problems.

Maybe you have bad credit. Anything involving a down-payment (or monthly bills) will look at your credit score. Maybe you need money to live somewhere, get a loan. Loans take years to pay back. And if you had bad credit you probably wouldn't even get a loan.

I hope you guys realize what I just illustrated wasn't poor people problems but average folk problems.

Money problems can also cause emotional problems. Stress is the obvious one. Some people simply don't have time to take care of themselves, or their girlfriend. Money can also ruin friendships. Your buddy needs you to cosign a loan, if this goes wrong more than your credit score will suffer. So say good bye to your buddy because you might've crushed his life dream, but honestly no one can blame you for not cosigning. And don't forget if you boss tells you that you need to move to Alaska then you're buying snowshoes.

Rich people, you do have problems. But there are so many things that you don't need to sweat about so you better be damn thankful.

Also I think IIN might have some rich teenagers...

Rich people are sad for the most part. Why is being wealthy so god damn important to people? You can't take your porche trophy wife, or expensive toys with you when you die.

It's relationships with others that matter at that moment of death.

This sounds morbid, but you live your life a lot differently if you know you're on the brink of death.

You don't have to perseverate on it, but keep it on your shoulder.

    Money is paper and metal

    • They're sad? Oh those poor rich people. Oh wait, why did I say "poor?" They're rich. Those unfortunate rich people. Nope, can't use "unfortunate" either because fortune is another way of saying rich.

They must be so jealous of the middle class. Because you know, being middle class guarantees friends.

Money is your food, house, and health. If you want to spend it on paper and metal go ahead.

I think being rich generates loads of problems. Gold-diggers target your children to get pregnant or to marry them so as to clean them out financially. A young couple are never as happy as when they start out poor and strive to achieve something together. It is the fastest way to end a relationship for the parents to give them loads of dosh to start off their marriage. When you're able to buy anything you want and you've nothing to strive for, life is really boring.

  • One side to rich peoples' lives is that, if they're born rich, they might not notice the benefits of having tons of money, cuz they're so used to it.

It's kind of like saying, if you have ANY money at all, you don't have problems, but if you have NO money, you do. The person with money still has problems, they don't exactly think 'at least I have some money, some have none', they think of their asshole of a boss, wife or similar...

It's sort of like different levels of problems.

Some people are born into technically great circumstances, but lead shit lives, yet some are born into extreme poverty and rise up to live an amazing life.

    YES I RAMBLED.

Problems are subjective. A rich person may not worry about their next meal, but they might be worried about the ice sculpture melting to fast in the sun. It may be a stupid problem, but still a problem to some extent. And money doesn't make you immune to emotional problems.

  • rich people usually get ignored by people who have less money.

My parents are rich and it isn't my fault obviously as I was born into it, yet I still get people I know/friends giving me a few rude comments because they think I have an easy life because I have a swimming pool and a large house with other various nice things.

When really I probably have about a hundred more problems than anyone I know personally

So what are these one hundred problems that can't be fixed with the riches you have access to?

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • It bothers you because you actually care.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • A hundred more problems than people you know is a ridiculous thing to say whether you're rich or not.

As I said in the end you're still rich, and as a person above stated your money is a safety net. Imagine you with all your problems and no safety net. Go ahead think about it.

      • it doesn't give much of a "safety net". Most people who live near me arn't rich but live close to people so socialise more. Im stuck in the middle of nowhere

Oh for goodness sake, if you're so rich move out of the middle of nowhere into the middle of somewhere - how about a homeless shelter? Or the street for even one night or a minimum wage job in Macca's?

My heart just bleeds for you
