Definitely not normal. My first question would be "Were you ever sexually abused as a child?" If the hook up was bringing up buried subconscious memories of abuse by a male family member, for example, your reaction may begin to make sense.
I definitely don't think I was ever abused as a child, as I had a very happy, normal family life and childhood. I have had a few messed up relationships though, nothing abusive, just emotionally painful.
