Religion is grounded more in society, than evidence of god

edit: after writing this i realised it was mostly me ranting about religion, which was not my intent, and is more of an arguement than a question, but if you still want to read go ahead

i know many people turn to god for various reasons, and im not against people believing in god, im not even saying their is no god, but what i am saying is that even if god exists, there really is nothing leading us to the conclusion of god other than society.
many people point to the bible (and other religous texts) as evidence, however much of whats in the bible is just scientifically wrong, or is immoral to the standards today.because of this either the bible isnt the word of god, or we go against god claiming to be for it. also i know many poeple dont take the bible litteraly, and that it was a book of its times, which i believe to be the case, but if something so outdated is what modern day religion is based on, then youd think that would be a problem. because of this (and other reasons such as the god of the gaps and all the arguemnts for god can easily be turned around and used against god) there is more reason tov believ that the existance of god was made as a way to explain things we didnt know(and still dont)that people just stuck with. im not saying god doesnt exist, but if he does hes probably nothing like any of the religions say, and i want to reitterate that im not against belief, but i feel like its more of a societal thing. also something that pisses me off is why can god not have a creator when the universe has to have been created by something?

As an atheist I agree and find this completely normal. Being agnostic and a critical thinker is gold
