  • Technically they can't refuse to treat you at the emergency room but they will just bill you thousands of dollars later.
    If you have insurance you just past a small fee like $20 but not having it would cost about $100 and up front. Though I may have to go anyway cause I feel like crap.

    • That's a terrible system: are you in the US? What happens if you don't pay and really can't pay?

      • Yes. You just keep accruing debt and it messes up your credit. I don't think they can add interest to medical bills at least. I just switched jobs and I don't qualify for their insurance.
        My mom said she would help me out this morning so I'm going to a clinic. thnx though!

          So those stories about people in the US becoming homeless or bankrupt because of medical bills aren't exaggerated?

          • Definitely bankrupt! I know a few people who lost their home cause of cancer treatments.
            And there are a lot of mentally I'll homeless and vets who probably got messed up killing folks in the military. :(
