It could be connected to your feelings at the moment or inner stress. I believe that before you go to sleep, have a relaxing bubble bath, try to listen to a meditation tape as your going to sleep. I used to have the same terrifying nightmare every night at least twice but i began to listen to meditation tapes and story CD's while im drifting of to sleep and now i barely have the dream AT ALL now. :) hope this helped.
