Ratting out criminals

I would never tell on or report a serious or major criminal (provided that I'm not a victim). I'm a big believer in minding one's own business, and unless they're affecting someone who I know or care about, I couldn't sleep at night knowing that I helped lock someone up for an indefinite amount of time.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I'm down for turning in some dirt bag criminal, especially if I can do so anonymously. Freedom is for people who obey the law! I would never turn in anyone for anything related to marijuana of course. I have to keep my standards you know.

You love freedom but only for people who follow all the rules? This is the whole logical fallacy of society.

Freedom is for those who don't get caught. : )

Freedom is for those that are law abiding citizens.

          Innocent until proven guilty.

It depends on the crime. I would feel guilty if I witnessed a murder, sexual assault/abuse, child abuse, and I didn't do anything about it. Even if it happened to someone I didn't know. What would you do if you saw a person molesting a 2 year old? You would just walk away and not do anything because you believe in "minding your business"?

    • I'd strongly condemn it, and lecture the person as to the evil of their actions and why they should change their behavior. But that's about all.

      • Child rapists usually need more than just a strict talking to. I hardly get bitey, but go fuck yourself. If I had a child who was harmed by someone and you knew who but didn't say anything I'd hang you from a tree.

        • For the record, would you strongly despise a female rapist as well, or do you have a double-standards mentality? If you fall in the latter category, and you try to "hang me from a tree," then I'll shoot you first. If you believe in equal standards, then you have every right to loathe my original response.

          • Ha, no, I’m intersex, whether you’re a chick or a dude has nothing to do with the severity of the crime. I’d just hang them by the clit. A female committing the same crime as a male gets equal hate and I’d kill them all the same.

            • That's all that matters. Sexism against men is the BIGGEST injustice in the 21st century-western world, so whenever I sense hostility towards the xy gender, I will always take a stand.

How about serial rapists or sexual abusers of children?

    • Again, if it's not someone I know or have a connection to, then it doesn't affect me in any way.

How would you feel if you needed help and the only witness had that same selfish attitude about helping you?

        • I wouldn't be happy, obviously. But I'd also realize that the witness probably has the same hard-wiring as myself, so if I got mad at them, it'd make me a hypocrite. And no one wants to be labeled the "H word."

That's what you say now, but it's not unusual to change in a crisis.

    Depends on the crime.

If this was someone like actually killing or raping people and I knew for sure it was them then yes. They're a danger to society and they need locking up.

For something as trivial as drugs? Eh probably not. Addicts need rehab, not jail.

    Snitches get stitches ;-)

On a more serious note If the police can guarantee the safety of all of your family for life it may be worth considering becoming a witness/giving evidence.

Okay what if they have admitted to murdering over 14 different families?

Yeah the only thing i'd snitch to is someone committing rape, murder, not as much. There are so many extenuating circumstances, and so many reasons why. Rape? 0 tolerance. That shit is planned and unnecessary if we'd just legalize hooking.

So your saying you wouldnt turn in a serial killer? Whos killed random innocent people?

      • wigz

Your post implies you saw or knowthe person (how/why else would you know or have any reason to turn someone in if you hadn't seen them or knew them). So if they are in your area, or you know them, then they are a threat to you and people associated with you.

Yeah I'm the same. Locking someone up is just as bad as whatever they're doing

I disagree, I don't believe in "minding my own business" when it comes to something as serious as wanted criminals or if I was a witness to someone kidnapping somebody or robbing a store, I would report it immediately. Just because it didn't directly affect anyone I know doesn't mean I should just stay quiet about it.

Criminals and crooked cops should fear the sniper. Justice at 500 meters. The sniper lurks.
