I'm the same but I don't feel awkward around people, if anyone confronts you about being quite say you're a listener. I would much rather listen to someone than talk, not because I don't like my own voice but I feel more comfortable that way. If you are worried about eye contact just look at the bridge of the nose of the person you are talking to, that way you won't feel as though you are staring at them, they won't be able to tell :)
