Question about internal monologue.

I'm not sure how other peoples internal monologues work and am interested to know if mind is working normally as well.

I often don't think in words. I think in events and images until I have to turn on my internal monologue to do something such as write. When I talk I do not use it and have no precognition of what I am going to say. It's just like I run on auto pilot, but when I use text I can see what I am saying and arrange it better.

When I was about 5 or 6 I remember first hearing my internal monologue of "thinking in words" and it freaked me out. I didn't know where it was coming from.

Still it seems often these thoughts are being delivered to my receptors. This isn't the same as an actual hallucination though. I've had hallucinations before and it actually sounds like somebody in talking from the next room, but it never lasts long. With the internal monologue it is like I can hear it in my mind, but sometimes it can be random and overbearing thoughts. Sometimes they have said they are someone I know or who has died, God, grey aliens, extra dimensional beings, and people from my dream lives. etc. Also when I stay up too long or get intoxicated I can hear all the micro organisms screaming through the static.

Is It Normal?
