Put a Limit On How Long People Can Be On?

  • I strongly disagree with your idea. Even before I was an IIN gold member, I commented consistently on most of the stories approved daily for many months. I don't come here because I am addicted, I come here for the people. IIN is how I socialize. Without it, I would still get on my computer just as much as I do now, only it would be on different websites. Limiting my time on IIN would not help my online "problem." Only I can fix that, and quite frankly, I don't think I need to.

"If there isn’t a limit, these obsessed Posters will start neglecting their boyfriends and girlfriends, form unhealthy habits like drinking too much Coffee or Ice Cream, and even possibly loosing their Scholarships to school."

I disagree with this too. I don't have a girlfriend currently, but if I did, I believe this website wouldn't hinder my attention to her. The only unhealthy habit IIN has made me form is sitting down too long, and that can be attributed to just being on the computer in general. I never got any scholarships to my school (my local "Arkansas state lottery scholarship is a scam), but I have consistently kept a very high grade point average throughout my time here and ask anybody that is familiar with my posts: I spend a lot of time here. My current GPA is about a 3.9

As a comparison, your idea supports the same mindset that the government should step in for parents who are bad at raising their children. I can't think of a specific example right now, but you are looking at it the wrong way. It's NOT the responsibility of the government(TheManagement or Moderators), it's the responsibility of the parents/people(users). Taking away this freedom is WRONG.

    • OP, how was Shackleford asking for a reason his comment was deleted off topic? You're aware this is total thought police stuff right? I totally agree with everything Shackleford says, btw.

You need to understand, even if your intentions in this are good, though I strongly suspect you're just going for the negative attention, it is not your place. If you think this, right, whatever, that's your choice. But you have to accept that people do not like being told what to do and controlled as such, over something that is actually within their control, not that of TheManagement.

      • Just so you know, he did send me a message explaining why he deleted my original comment. I appreciate your agreement too, thank you.

        • You're welcome.

Yup, I saw (it gets sent to my inbox when I favourite). I just don't think censoring answers that don't agree with him is the right way to conduct a discussion (I didn't actually see your original post, though. I saw you asking why it was taken down, and then that was taken down for 'being off topic'. I just find that interesting as the OP has on at least one occasion, used another story he commented on to direct people towards his own stories - which I consider more off topic than your post).

Oh wait, I guess that's just me spending too much time on this site, huh? Oh shit, now my life will be ruined...I might become addicted to coffee or something.

Yeah needlessly agressive I guess. I'm tired and cranky :)

          • It bothered me a little bit that he deleted my original comment on here, before this post was approved. I am okay that he deleted my comment on here asking why he deleted my original comment though, because of the fact that he did send me an explanation as to why he deleted my original comment. Did that just make sense? Lol.
