People use many other sites for hours upon hours each day. What about Facebook?
If someone chooses to spend hours on the internet, that is not the site owner's responsibility.
Any time limits, I can almost guarantee that it would a) drive away current users and b) put off potential new users. It also goes against the fact that most sites try to encourage people to use their sites frequently, to my understanding, that's how websites get their money, yes?
Another point, unless you can actually say each and every person uses/accesses this website in the same way, you can't make the call that they have been 'online long enough'. For example, I often have IIN running in the background while I do other things both on the computer and in the real world. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does. So I may be 'on' IIN for, say, four hours, but really only actively there for 20mins.
I was going to ask if you would give your reasons for why you think this is a major concern, but you've gone into that a bit since I read this post originally. Are you aware that it just makes you come across as trying to cause annoyance and uproar? I'd really like to give you the benefit of the doubt, but seriously? This does seem to heavily point towards being an attack on other people who use this site (ie the "Regulars") and the way you've spoken to two of the chat regulars in this very post comes across as very condescending. If you don't like them, ignore them. It's petty to try and ruin someone else's enjoyment. They have as much right to be here as you do.
And I agree with Aussiewolf...I don't understand why this question that doesn't really pose a valid 'IIN' question and should have been posted in a poll style was let through when others are reporting that they have their posts rejected because they're more suited as polls. I'm not saying you don't have a right to ask this, by all means, conversation is good, even if I don't agree with your point of view.
Also, I've 'favourited' and 'followed' this post, so I get the comments sent as emails. They aren't all showing here, so it would appear you've been deleting several comments (though I could be wrong, maybe the users recanted them). If my assumtion is correct, may I ask why? If not, my apologies.
Put a Limit On How Long People Can Be On?

"It isn't the site's owner responsibility"
It is according to the Courts.
See my reply to lc1988.
And Facebook? That's unfortunate but it's not our responsibility to clean the Houses of other people.

The posts I'm deleting are my own posts. Often times I'll reword my arguments or catch some spelling error but I can see why you'd think that.

I saw your reply to LC. I still stand by my comment.
" That's unfortunate but it's not our responsibility to clean the Houses of other people."
So am I just confused? Is that not what you are saying IIN should have? But you just said it's not our responsibility.
And the replies, there was at least one from a user other than you that disappeared.
i agree and btw your cat is cute (and tidy i saw its broom)

Thanks :)
Not my cat, though, just a mildy psychotic cat I looked after once and thought was pretty.
I like seeing your posts, they're always good.
I always feel so awkward and slightly 'special' when I say something like that to other users on this site.
Meh.
:)
