Psoriasis

So I have always had the skin disease psoriasis but I've never had it really bad. It has mostly appeared on my scalp and elbows. Recently it has been flaring up and been very itchy. Also I've found it in some weird spots, well at least it looks like psoriasis. Okay here's the embarrassing part; is it normal to get psoriasis on your vagina? I am a virgin so it can't be some kind of STD so I figured it was my psoriasis. "/

Is It Normal?

  • My mom has it all over her body. So she goes to the tanning bed all year and u can't even tell she has it. You do need to have a regular doctor to get it checked on from time to time. It can become a serious form of arthritis since it is autoimmune.

  • artificial sunlight (like a tanning bed) will make it start to disappear

  • I am a 54 female. I've had it for 40 years. I've had cortisone shots. My doc won't give me pills because it can damage your liver. But what he did do for me was use a tanning bed right at the hospital. UV rays help alot. It takes time tho. I would rather use sunlight than drugs. Ask ur doc.

  • Also, you can get genital herpes even if you haven't had any sexual contact. For example, if you have a cold sore the virus can be transferred to other parts of the body if precautions aren't taken.
I don't mean to scare you, but maybe you should just make sure in case.

  • I commented on another story about psoriasis last time. I'll just copy and paste what I wrote there in case it's helpful:

There's not much help I can offer, but I've recently become interested in the role our diet plays in various health problems and I found a little information on diet and psoriasis:
    http://psoriasis.about.com/od/holisticapproach/i/diet.htm

You can do a bit of searching too and see what comes up. I hope you guys find that helpful.

By the way, I'm pretty sure you mean that the psoriasis has affected your vulva, but if you really do mean that the vagina (the inner part, the tract that leads to your uterus) has been affected in some way, then I would suggest that you go and see you doctor for some advice; although, I doubt it. Good luck!

  • It's psoriasis, it can pop up anywhere. See your doctor. I'm sure you know psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder, so topical stuff isn't usually very effective.

    • Yeah, my fiance has a bad case of this illness as well. Her problem is her vagina area as well and it always looks like she is wearing red underwear and it is rather disturbing to look at.

However, it isn't a dealbreaker and a man will still love you if you share this problem with him and are just honest about it. Also, try to find help because it is one thing to accept something you can't change about your spouse or boyfriend, it is completely different to be okay with something that they are too lazy to fix.
