I personally don't think you're conceited for not wanting to go to prom. You already went once, and you don't feel like you need to do it again- there's nothing wrong with that.
The money issue is a good and logical reason to not attend prom- if you're tight with money and have no desire in the first place to go to prom, then it would be a waste of money if you went. I think it's your gf who's being conceited by not accepting the fact that you don't want to go to prom, and decided to go with another guy as her date. She didn't HAVE to get another guy as a date, she could have hung out with her friends at prom, like I did. I think you trying to set up a dinner date is sweet : )
I wouldn't say break up with her. If she really refuses to do anything else with you, it might be best to let her go...
I'm curious- is your school having an after prom? Maybe you could just go to that.
Yeah, we have an after prom. However, it's at a water-park. Sounds cool, but it was kinda boring last year. Anyways, the only way to get into the water-park is to attend prom since the school rents out the whole place. So, yeah, to do that I'd have to go to prom.
