I'm anti-Israel more than pro-Palestine. Israel seems to cause more than its fair share of grief (and recently, death) for one little country with less people than than New York city.

And I don't understand why the world (and especially the US) always had the back, no matter what they do.

    Palestine, to some extent.

In my opinion, Palestinians have been denied a right to sovereign independence and land thanks to Britain, the UN and subsequently Israel itself.

The power to resolve the issue is mostly in the hands of Israel.

Of course, the anti-Jewish rhetoric from Palestinians and the Arab-muslim world in general is threatening. But perpetuating the oppression of Palestinians and denying them the right to self-determination also perpetuates that antisemitism.

Israel would improve their national security and their reputation internationally if they worked together with Palestine and the UN to establish a secure and defined Palestinian nation.

That's how I understand it, anyway. We (Britain) and other countries created a problem that Israel continues, and the major casualty is the Palestinian civilians.

I hated Israel when I was there; it is the worst country I've ever visited. I sincerely believe they are a warmongering group of interlopers who had no right to displace a whole population, for land they had lost 2000 years ago.
But the Palestinian methods of attention getting and retaliation do not get any votes from me either. They are every bit as crazy and fanatical as their hated enemy and I sincerely believe the world would be much better off if the whole area was nuked back into the useless, uninhabitable desert it once was.

If I had to choose, I'd say pro-Israel, but the only way out of this conflict is a peaceful two-state outcome.

Well I've explained my position in my other comment here.

Just wondering why, if you had to 'pick a side' in this conflict, you'd pick Israel?

I love my Jewish friends and I believe that Israel belongs to the Jews. I have no love for Islam, terrorism or the misogyny that religion promotes. I believe that Mohammed was a false prophet.

I love and respect Israel as the promised land of God's chosen people. As a Roman Catholic I believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and my Lord and Savior! I know that my beliefs aren't popular and people will judge and bash me for it, but I believe as a Christian that when people treat me badly because of my beliefs it's for God's greater glory.

Interesting - thanks for sharing your views.

So how do you feel about Palestinians, who have been forcibly removed from their land and marginalised in order to accommodate Israelis?

I mean the conflict certainly isn't as simplistic as Judaism v.s. Islam.

Israel has blockaded shipping from Gaza and rules it by restricting commerce like a colonial power. The American colonies gave the same response when the British navy did that to them in the late 1700s.
