    • So do you think child molesters and drug addicts should have children?

I never said to sterilize people for their genes. I would sterilize people for those actions.

I would give money to people who volunteer to be sterilized as well, but that would be their choice.

      • Of course I'd prefer that they didn't, although your term "drug addicts" is very wide: do you include alcoholics in that or only people addicted to illegal drugs? I have known addicts who were good parents, others who weren't and parents not addicted to anything who neglect or abuse their kids.

I'm wary of any government having such power because where does it stop? People with mental and/or physical disabilities? What would you do about people who refused? Compulsory sterilisation?

The money incentive is a different concept altogether.

        • As far as drug addicts I wouldn't do it to everyone, but more serious cases.

People who get pregnant and cannot quit their drugs should not have kids. I know people who were born with disabilities due to their parents using drugs while pregnant. If someone is so addicted to something that they cannot stop for the sake of their own children, they should not have them. I have seen people who do drugs around their kids too and I think these people are unfit parents. I understand drug withdraw is awful, but children should always come first and if someone is not willing to suffer for the sake of their own children they shouldn't have them because suffering for what you should care about is something we all must be willing to deal with.

As for people with disabilities having kids, I do not have any problem with them and would not take their parental rights.

The people I would mandatorily sterilize would be people who have lost their parenting rights by proving they are unfit to have kids. I don't think just anybody should be parents and I don't think it is comparable to Hitler to say that people who are unable to make sacrifices for themselves for the sake of their children should be fixed.

I do think children should always come first and if someone isn't willing to make that commitment they should not have kids.

          • I'm myself in favour of a law that controls birth by certain psychological, medical and financial criteria. The idea here is to reduce poverty, child abuse, drug abuse, criminality, school drop rates, etc. Speaking in very generic terms of course. Your suggestion is very good, offering money as an incentive. Unfortunately my country(Portugal) is going through a natality stagnation since the 00's and such measures are not politically welcomed. But I don't care about politics, I care about the children and their life quality.
