Prison letters...iin

So basically I come from a broken up family. My mom has 7 kids, but were all taken away due to unstable health issues, but when I came around my mom cleaned her act up. Any who, about 8 years ago I recently got into contact with one of 3 brothers of mine and finding out he will be doing life in prison hit me hard. But theres always this feeling in my gut like we are never going to be on some kind of stable, healthy bond:( Do you think I will always feel like this? I mean yes I get letters from him monthly, but will it just always be PRISON LETTERS? Is this a normal feeling??!!

Just because someone is a blood relation does not automatically mean they are good people for you to know. That may seem hard, but sometimes you can outgrow a family. Stay in contact if it makes you feel better, but do make sure its for the right reasons and not just because you feel you 'should do'.

What do you care? You didn't know him before so you're not losing anything.... If he is in jail for life the chances that he is a ass hole criminal is pretty high and you're better off him not being a part of your life. Find some nice people to focus your energy on instead of this loser

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully through your letters to him, you can serve as a inspiration for him to turn his life around. Maybe on his birthday, you could go to see him in person as a surprise? I think it would be good for the two of you. Letters are nice, but they're nothing at all like getting to see someone in person. :)

That sucks. What did he get done for?

  • I'm so sorry to hear that /: And yeah, it's normal to feel that way. He's your brother, and that's a normal feeling. But be thankful that you can at least keep in contact with him. Just think of how much worse it would be if you couldn't communicate with him at all. My brother is also in prison, so I know just how you feel. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what is he in for?

  • It's normal. I'm sorry but you'll have to deal with it, there's nothing you or him can do about it. Be happy that atleast you're able to communicate with him. My brother is also in jail and he is not even able to write me, he still doesn't know how much time he's doing or how long he is going to be there.
