Don't make them feel bad! If you wanna throw them off the trail then just do it more subtlety but don't be mean!
Some chics do that to me when they flirt. This one girl at work is always talking shit to me when i come to get my work keys. Shes always like "God I'm sick of seeing you everyday" then she will give me a smile. Kind of weird to me. I feel like a lot of black girls flirt like this.

In my case it was a crush on a woman 15 years older than me, who happened to be my supervisor at work, and who also has a steady boyfriend and a 3-year-old son. After months of pretending to hate her and then giving up trying (because seeing her hate me back, hurt), the barrier lifted and the crush turned out to have been mutual. I left that workplace and never spoke to her again.
