Guys go dutch on these things, especially with younger girls, because they don't want to be taken for a ride. He could be worried that because you essentially rejected him at the end of the first date, you're just interested in an older guy who will show you a good time without having to reciprocate. Then again, he could also just be a guy looking for some fun without any real investment.
Of course, rather than just worrying about all of these things, you should probably just have "the talk" and find out what he wants. That's what adults do. If that scares him off, that should make it clear that he wasn't interested in anything real.
