If you two are in love, I think you should tell him.
But you should tell him the truth, just tell him that the reason why you lied to him about who you were was because you barely knew him and you did not know that the conversation was going to escalate any further. Basically, that you lied to him for security reasons (ie: You weren't sure you could trust anyone on the internet). I think he would understand.
Although, you seemed to have kept this going for months, he's probably going to want to know why you didn't just tell him sooner.
