He's been given about as much credit as any musician ever born could possibly ever ask for... Ever. He's been put on a pedestal so high even a child abuse scandal didn't knock him down. Millions of fans mourned him, weeping and hysterical.
I personally think he was given a little too much credit. He was a good musician and had some great pop hits, but that's all.
