I think it might be that he can't handle seeing you with anyone else. I would not have problem with it at all and my wife and I have three ways four ways wife swap and all that stuff. Some just can't handle it. You need not push him and talk about it. Ask him if he can't take seeing you with anyone even if it is a woman.
