Playing "high score speeding'

Megadriver here, currently back home in Bulgaria, renewing documents and stuff, but that's not important. What is important is that my home city got it's first radar speed sign... Y'know the ones that say "Your speed" and show it. It's after a corner on a nice, long stretch of ring road, where you have perfect visibility and very little traffic and a 60kmh speed limit for some reason. And luckily there is NO police on that stretch of road... ever. Perfect acceleration test.

Well, local car enthusiasts have added a makeshift wooden scoreboard under the sign... And people have posted their highest speed. My best friend recently posted his... 136kmh in his car. To make it count, most people have a passenger snap a picture of the dot-matrix screen and then another snapshot of the added "high score" and post it on the local car enthusiast forum.

So... I'm heading to my home town tomorrow to get my new documents (ID, drivers license, passport, etc...) and I kinda want to add my speed to the high score chart.
The current leader is someone who hit 163kmh... I think I can beat that, 400hp V8 should be enough to top it.

(PS: I know it's not the most adult thing to do, but neither is owning a V8 sedan, so whatever...)

My question is, would you play this game, or not... and have you done something similar?

Yeah baby! Pedal to the metal! Let's make some noise! 4

I was driving down my stretch of highway not too long ago. I didn’t see anyone in either direction so I thought “let’s see how fast I can go before I get nervous”. I hit 95 mph (nowhere as badass as you), and decided to just coast to my exit. Fucking blueies. Cop asked me why I was going so fast and I told him “I just wanted to see how fast I could go” and apologized. He laughed and wrote me a ticket for 70.

Love that song! I was definitely an American in a past life XD

After the whole corona thing blows over and I'm making money, my next project is gonna be either a '55 Bel Air, or a '58/'59 Plymouth Belvedere/ Fury coupe.

you should look into doin a resto-mod ls swap

prolly not as prevalent over there but chevy/gm v8 ls motors are abundant and cheap and can make a hell of a lotta power without any modification

theyre in almost every pickup truck

theres stand alone computer systems for em readily available and you can toss a turbo at it for a bita extra fun

I'll have to look into that... I have thought about it. As much as I would love messing about with a carbureted engine, modding it would cost a fortune.

Going for a more modern engine that has a plethora of aftermarket parts available and one of the best engines to go for is an LS.

Tho I'd go for a supercharger. American Muscle screams like a banshee when you got your foot down and lopes like a truck after a cold start on idle. The rest do stututu noises.

It ain't gonna be cheap... Whipple superchargers cost 5 grand. Just for the supercharger, but then you gotta swap a whole bunch of other parts to make sure everything works right...
That 'ol American ride will probably be my most expensive car. Worth it, cause the things will only go up in value.

            whipple would be the shit

nothin like positive displacement boost makin pavement shreddin torque and that whine is somethin else

holley makes a shitloada ls swap stuff from mounts to fuel system to full wirin harnesses and theres others out there too

theres also tonsa 4l80e stand alone trans controllers although a t56 stick shift would be fun too but more pain in the ass to find one & install

That sounds like a lot of fun, it must rock to live in a place where traffic cops dont give a fuck.

I used to know this guy who grew up in... some pacific Island I dont remember. He said the cops literally didn't give a fuck about speeding and even if you did get a ticket the penalties never went up the more tickets you got, so it was literally pay $50 for getting caught and then back to racing around.

Slowly the price for speeding is rising in Bulgaria and recently they've been installing tons of cameras. They are not yet operational, but one day they will be...

On the plus side, doing the James Bond license plate trick is a viable option for when the cameras come online. Fine for rotating license plates is 50 bucks and the confiscation of the plates and the device.

I you are sure no one else is on the road at the time, and you are an elite driver with a capable car and your passenger accepts the risks than I guess, go for it.

It isn't terribly impressive what top speed you achieve on a straight away though, driving fast through turns is something to be proud of.

I can go fast through the corners, but I did mention this scoreboard was on a straight, after a corner...

So it's more of an acceleration test for your car than it is for your driving skills.
