I adopted a Giant African Land Snail. Someone's snails had had babies and they were giving them away. His shell has reached about 20 cm which is a good deal above average. I'm proud of him :)
They're good pets, very low maintance. They just need a tank with a layer of bark at the bottem and a heat mat underneath. Then just feed them apple, lettuce and stuff every day or so and give them a shallow water bowl.

really, a snail? I have never heard of a snail as a pet, but why not I suppose.

But they're illegal in Canada and the USA.
Thats really cool! Super low maintenence, probably the most freedom anyone will have with a pet.
