I think the best approach to start with to get your boyfriend to do it is to ask him to do cunnilingus in the shower with you, then just proceed from there. I think that to most guys and to most girls the taboo factor puts them off as well as the potential mess. I think that in trying to see if your boyfriend might like it, which he well might, is to introduce the idea to him in a gentle way - getting him to understand that (i) something with a taboo against it doesn't mean its a bad thing, just that its less common and (ii) that cunni on a period can still be clean, and even if its messy that can still be fun. Exactly how you go about that is i think something for your individual case, but my advice would be to try a gentle introduction first, and just feel out if he's ok with it.
