People are so offended these days

Doesn't anyone find that some people can't be happy?! For example, some people are calling the classic Rudolf movie "Abusive and problematic". Also some people complain that Christmas songs relate to racism, abuse, softcore porn, stalking, etc.

Like hello?! There's people who like these songs! What are your thoughts about people complaining?

Is It Normal?

    • It's been one of my pet peeves for a while. I just don't understand why some people can't shut up and let people enjoy things that they don't. Then again, it's a "me world" out there

      • I personally dislike Christmas. Idc if anyone else celebrates it but I don’t like it for me. My problem is when people try to shove it down my throat. Then I’m an asshole about it.

  • People who are so easily offended by children's programs should just dig themselves a fucking hole and live in it.

  • One word: snowflake. Being offended by others mean nothing so grow up and either deal with life or go back to your so called "safe place."

    • "1944, Frank Loesser wrote "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for his wife, Lynn Garland, and himself to sing at a housewarming party in New York City at the Navarro Hotel. They sang the song to indicate to guests that it was time to leave. Loesser often introduced himself as the "evil of two Loessers" because of the role he played in the song."

"Baby, It's Cold Outside" was sung by (...) Betty Garrett and Red Skelton, who reversed the roles."

"others have noted that cultural expectations of the time period were such that women were not socially permitted to spend the night with a boyfriend or fiancé, and that the woman states that she wants to stay, while "What's in this drink?" was a common idiom of the period used to rebuke social expectations by blaming one's actions on the influence of alcohol"

  • People have always been offended by stuff, it's just that now they have a free public platform to air grievances and band together so you hear about it more. I agree that it's annoying but you can just ignore them, that's what I do

  • Personally I find reindeer quite offensive. Roughly 30 years ago my grandma was in fact run over by some of them.

I don't know if Santa was sipping on the egg not a little too hard, or if Rudolph's nose just wasn't shining bright enough that night, but our lives have never been the same since.

I get triggered very hard at the mere mention of those wretched beasts. There are not enough safe spaces in this secular-Christmas haven of hate for me to ever be at ease.

So yes, any depictions of reindeer, or Santa clause (satan clause as we call him) are terribly offensive and need to stop existing.

  • I just ignore them. Don't support the sensationalism with any of your time.
