People almost always assume that i'm a guy online

This happens very often, and so I've been wondering why. Most people don't ask, or qualify their comments in any way.

I usually don't bother to correct them, unless my gender is somehow relevant.

OP's comments sound like a guy made them. 10
"There are no women on the internet" mentality 7
In English, it's customary to use male pronouns when the person's gender is unknown. 7

Most people online are guys. Hell, even most of the girls are guys.

Why not identify yourself as a woman when posting or commenting?

its like this , ever walk into a bar and wonder who the airplane pilot is? you will know in about four minutes because they will be telling you. same with a human with a pussy. so if you are not telling people then you are purposely hiding it from them.

This has always happened to me. I used to have a very girly sounding name with a flowery picture on YouTube years ago and people still assumed I was a guy when I would comment. People have mistaken me for a guy on here as well. It can be annoying.

Women are good social engineers. The way the close a paragraph leaves a good opening for a counter-response. There is ever present empathy between the lines. However, iEatZombies_ is a girl. She uses incisive logic that's stunningly conclusive. Her mind ticks with the precision of a computer chip. Whew, thinking of her makes me breathless.

Have women done the same or they use "she" with you?

  • Ppl assume you are a guy posing as a girl who is posing as a guy, but who is really a girl. Simple as that.

    Isn't "guy" gender neutral?
This is a complicated subject. By my own experience there's a lot of girls on internet. The thing is that, on the internet and unless specified otherwise, we are all gender less. My theories are that at first the majority of people on the internet or the ones that where on anonymous social media like this site were males. Or just at the tame people used more often "he". I don't know. It also depends of the site.

I used to think a user called Shade was a guy cause, she was so tomboyish. But then we talked a lot in private and realized she was a girl, she even showed her pics and she is really cute and hot. Miss her :(!

Personally, even though I am a girl, I assume most people on this site are guys because it is true that the majority of people on here are guys. I will typically look for clues to determine if they are a guy or a girl and if I can’t figure it out I won’t use words that comply to a specific gender until I can get an idea.
