Paralyzed when trying to sleep

  • It's called sleep paralysis or sometimes I've heard it referred to as "the devil's grip." It's a common symptom of narcolepsy or can occur if your sleeping patterns have recently been irregular (i.e. napping for long periods of time, staying up for long periods of time, microsleeping, etc.). Often times it's accompanied with strong feelings of paranoia, auditory and visual hallucinations and anxiety. I've had it multiple times, once when I fell asleep in my basement. The worst.
