Ive known my wife since she was 6. We have basically been together ever since then. We have been together now 20+ years. Some people find it crazy. When I see friends I havent seen since childhood theyre like wtf you two are still together
Some long term relationships are great, others are awful. Really depends on the situation. My husband and I are very happy together but I have a friend who has been in very toxic marriage for almost 20 years.
Long term (multi-year) relationships are really the best. It takes maturity to make them work - and you know that someone will always be there to listen to you.
We never married; but I have a long term friend that initially started as dating for marriage a bit over 40 years ago. In many ways I'm closer to her than to my wife because we have been though so much together - even when at a distance (my wife understands that - and is OK: She actually feels that it shows that I'm a good person to build and maintain such a multi-decade friendship). We always have someone we can talk to about any subject. It helps a lot in life to have that kind of support.
I'd not worry about the people who don't understand. They have not yet matured enough to understand the benefits and appreciate things like that.
I think long-term relationships have a higher success rate than most relationships in general.
I think long term relationship isn't really a problem especially if you've known the person for years.
