Operating heavy machinery under the influence

Is there really any data behind this being dangerous that applies to 100% of the population? I ask because I operate a front loader, sometimes a backhoe and the alcohol helps me focus especially toward the end of the day. Way more dangerous if I'm tired and can't concentrate.

If you cared to look for it, there's plenty of data regarding the effect of alcohol on concentration and reaction times, both of which need to be functioning well if you're in charge of heavy machinery.

Are you saying you drink alcohol in your workplace? That's just ridiculous and I hope you get caught before you kill or injure someone else.

  • Alcohol doesn't help you focus, though you might have the illusion of doing so. How many times do people have to be told all this basic safety stuff regarding alcohol? Go PSAs I guess.

Back when I operated forklifts I never used to headlights cause they only blinded me. Well the white hats hated that and were all up my ass till me and a semi (type vehicle-was a long time ago. Was like a dump truck but not quite) almost had a head long collision with each other. After that I never got bothered about it again
